How do we both use "Track Changes"?

First of all, if you have never used Track Changes and/or the Comments,  you and I will have a phone conversation to run over the basics. This usually happens when you receive your first edited file back from the editor. 

We'll both be looking at your edited writing on our respective computers so that we can walk through and talk through your next steps.

Both the Track Changes and Comments features bring much ease to the editing process; they truly contribute to time and cost savings once we are both using them freely. 

These features also give you, the writer, a lot of control and power over the editing process. You can see every itty-bitty change the editor has made. After your editor has made all the changes and has used Comments to make queries and to explain changes, the file is returned to you.

You then go through the document. With a single button click, you can "accept" or "reject" the editor's changes. You will also read the comments and make changes if you choose. You can delete your editor's comments or leave them.

Most importantly, you will do all of this with Track Changes ON! This is so your editor can easily move through the document and find your changes and comments. Your changes and comments will appear in a different colour. (See the article below for turning Track Changes on.) 

Again, if you are having qualms and questions about either Track Changes or Comments, please call me rather than fret! I know that you can become quickly familiar with them and that you will come to appreciate them. 

Ultimately, Track Changes and Comments means that you have more time to focus on your research and writing and that your editor spends less time editing.
